More than 7700 educators in all parts of Greater New York have joined in the Educators Division of the United Jewish Appeal, which is seeking $1,250,000 in the metropolis, it was announced Friday.
The campaign proceeds will go for the relief and rehabilitation of Jews of Germany and Eastern Europe and for the settlement of Jews in Palestine.
According to the announcement, which was made by Jacob Greenberg, Edward Mandel and Benjamin Veit, chairmen of the Educator’s Division, a comprehensive plan of solicitation will be adopted Tuesday afternoon at a meeting at the Hotel Commodore.
Speakers at this gathering will include Joseph C. Hyman, honorary secretary of the United Jewish Appeal and secretary of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee; and Charles Ress, secretary of the board of directors of the American Palestine Campaign.
