— A one-week teachers’ strike in two Jewish day schools, the first in the history of the Toronto day schools, was ended by an agreement under which 800 students and 38 general studies teachers at Beth Tzedec and Beth Tikva United Synagogue schools here returned to class.
The teachers agreed to accept a 12.8 percent increase for teaching 30 hours weekly in the second year of a new contract. In the first year, the teachers will keep a wage pattern similar to that of public school teachers. Jewish studies were not affected by the walkout.
