The president of Aleph Zadik Aleph, teen-age boys division of the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, criticized some Jewish youth today for “being ashamed of their Jewishness.” He said that some of the fault lay with the present Jewish education system and warned that “we are being assimilated and don’t even realize this fact.”
Yale Rosenberg,19. of Houston, Tex. , addressing the AZA annual convention here, scored those Jewish youth who “take pride in their ability to conform to their general environment but take no pride in being Jewish.”
He said youth should take the initiative in working with parents to create a program of Jewish education and should insist on a curriculum that is “truly meaningful to them.”
More than 175 teen-agers are attending the five-day meeting which will discuss problems in Jewish and general education and the improvement of relations among peoples of all nations and faiths.
