City councillors gathered tonight at the bedside of Meier Dizengoff, 75-year-old mayor of this all-Jewish city, as a physicians’ bulletin reported his heart weakening under the strain of pneumonia.
Dr. Marcus, one of his physicians, left an operation on a Jew gravely wounded in an ambush, to be at the Mayor’s bedside.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, and Lord Melchett, British industrialist, cabled inquiries about Mr. Dizengoff’s condition.
