The contemplated changes in the Tel Aviv police system were discussed here today at a meeting of government officials and representatives of the Tel Aviv City Council.

Israel Rokeach, vice-Mayor of Tel Aviv, condemned what he described as an attempt to nullify the Jewish character of the police force in the only all-Jewish city in the world. The Tel Aviv police department, he said, must remain essentially Jewish in personnel.

The fact that Jewish policemen are leaving the Tel Aviv force because of the low pay has been viewed here with grave concern. British policemen are replacing them, and gradually the force is losing its Jewish character.
