Eight local anti-Nazi and partisan groups applied today to the Police Ministry for permission to hold a rally Saturday after Tel Aviv police rejected their request. The rally is to protest the resurgence of neo-Nazism in West Germany.
The Tel Aviv police said permission for the rally was not denied but that the location and route of the proposed rally was unacceptable for that date. The police said that alternative routes they had suggested were rejected by the groups.
Five leading Israeli educators left for West Germany today for a two-week visit to see “what the Germans have learned about Israel.” The visit was sponsored by local union councils at the invitation of Munich Mayor Johann Vogel.
