Tel Aviv Manufacturers to Memorialize Plumer

The Manufacturers’ Association of Tel Aviv has decided to submit, through a special delegation, a memorandum to the High Commissioner. The memorandum will deal with a number of questions affecting the position of industry in Palestine.

The Association has also decided to endeavor to have the question of Palestine industry raised in the House of Commons and to see to it that the British press be furnished with information concerning Palestine industry.

JEWISH COMMUNAL ACTIVITIES

A campaign to establish a synagogue in Ithaca, N. Y., to meet the needs of the Jewish students at Cornell University as well as the needs of the forty Jewish families of the town has been started. Close to $25,000 was raised as an initial sum for this purpose.

The drive of Chester, Pa., for a quota of $5,000 for the United Palestine Appeal has just been concluded with $5,500 raised. This is the largest amount ever subscribed in the city for Palestine. The successful conclusion of the campaign was celebrated last Thursday, at the Y. M. H. A. of Philadelphia by a dinner tendered by the officers of Region No. 4 to the Committee of Chester. A. W. Wolson was Honorary Chairman of the Committee and Archie Levy, Chairman.

“The Three Pillars”, a handbook on Jewish home life and the duties of the Jewish woman, by Mrs. Deborah M. Melamed, will be issued by the Women’s League of the United Synagogue of America.

The handbook groups under different chapter-headings, the religious obligations in the home.

The handbook, priced at $1.50, will be on sale early in May.

BREVITIES

A Fascist badge of honor was presented to Otto H. Kahn during a special ceremony at the lodge of the Fascist Party in Rome.

Prof. Cornelio di Marzio, General Secretary of the Fascists Abroad, presented the badge.

There are eleven Jewish students among the seventeen students at Washington Square College of New York Unitersity elected to Phi Beta Kappa, honorary scholastic fraternity.

Elisha M, Friedman, Sam. A. Lewisohn, Walter E. Meyer and Maurice Wertheim will give a dinner at the Harmonie Club on Friday evening, April 22, in honor of Philip Guedalla, British historian and essayist, and Mrs. Guedalla.
