Tel Aviv Municipality Discharges Employees for Not Enlisting in Palestine Forces

The Tel Aviv municipality today sent discharge notices to all employees of municipal institutions who failed to comply with the decision of central Jewish bodies in Palestine that all unmarried men between the ages of twenty and thirty should voluntarily enlist in the Palestine forces. Among these discharged are 24 teachers of secondary schools.

Meanwhile the British military headquarters here today announced a special recruiting campaign in connection with the formation of new military companies in Palestine. Opportunities for promotions are offered to early registrants.

The Davar, largest Hebrew daily newspaper in Palestine, today devotes its leading article to the anniversary of the first bombing of Tel Aviv by Axis planes. This bombing of a peaceful open city should serve as a lesson for increasing Jewish participation in the fighting forces, the paper writes.
