An eight-year plan for development of the shore of Tel Aviv, including construction of building to a value of about $12,500,000, has been approved by the British Government, it was announced today.
The plan, formulated by Lieut.-Col. Frederick H. Kisch and Mr. Greenblatt, includes the erection of a seawall and reclamation of a mile along the shore for construction of a promenade 75 feet wide, a parallel road, an esplanade and an arcade.
In the center of the reclaimed land a two-acre public park, a three-and-a-half acre sports ground and a swimming pool will be established. Only 30 per cent of the reclaimed land will be exploited for buildings.
A $3,500,000 company is being formed to execute the reclamation work, which will be completed in two and a half years. One thousand persons will be employed on the entire project.
