The Jewish Agency’s immigration department announced today that it is beginning immediately the establishment of tent camps in and ##### Israeli towns and villages to accommodate some 40,000 newly-arrived Jewish ##### grants.
Each tent costs approximately $500 and houses one average size family. The ##ing measure is temporary, the Agency explained, adding that the “tent camps11 will discontinued until the program of the new national housing corporation–Amidar–gets motorway.
The Israeli Supreme Court today ordered Police Minister Behor Shitreet to reinstate 14 high-ranking police officers–including the assistant police superintendent in Jerusalem–who were dismissed last year following an inquiry into their deduct during the British Mandatory regime.
Measures to ensure free access to the Holy Places here during the three stoat religious festivals which start soon are now being considered by the sub-committee for Jerusalem of the United Nations Conciliation Commission for Palestine. The festivals are the Christian Easter, the Moslem Nebi Musa and the Jewish Passover. The most difficult question, apparently, is that of providing access to the Wailing all in the Old City for the traditional Passover prayers.
