A Margulies Week is being observed in Florence in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the death of Rabbi Samuel Zwi Margulies, who was for 32 years Chief Pabbi of Florence and head of the Italian Rabbinical Seminary, which was transferred under his direction from Rome to Florence.
Chief Rabbi Margulies was the man who exercised greatest influence in the spiritual life of Italian Jewry in recent times. Most of the present Rabbis in Italy are his pupils, including Rabbi Cassuto, who succeeded his as Chief Rabbi of Florence and Principal of the Rabbinical Seminary.
