Reports were received here today about a series of bomb attacks in several Algerian towns aimed at Jews, many of whom were severely wounded.
In Algiers itself, a grenade was tossed into a cafe frequented by Jews, gravely wounding three Jewish patrons in the blast. The victims were Michael Darmon, 71; Paul Atlan, a 31 year-old policeman; and Maurice Oualind, 26. On the same day, a similar grenade attack was made on a cafe in the center of Algiers. Andre Said and his wife were seriously hurt in the explosion.
In another grenade attack on a third cafe, Charles Selsec, 13, and a young friend were hurt. The Oualid Brothers store in Blida was bombed and both brothers were hurt, one seriously. The store was almost wrecked. The Lazare store in Constantin was bombed in an attack which injured five persons and caused extensive damage to the store.
