Texas Jews Pledge $250,000 for Pavilion at Jewish Consumptive Society

Texas Jews pledged $250,000 to the Jewish Consumptive Relief Society of Denver for erecting a Women’s Pavilion, at the 22nd annual convention of the Society which opened here Sunday night. Harry Sigel presented a check for $50,000 as the first installment towards building the Texas wing.

Godfrey Schirmer, a non-Jew of Denver, addressed the delegates at a banquet at the Adolphus Hotel here. Mr. Schirmer, who was chairman of the Building Campaign for the city of Denver, detailed first hand information as to what the sanitarium was accomplishing and commended the Jews throughout the country who are supporting it with both their money and sympathy.

Dr. Roy Goggans, medical director of the Tubercular Hospital of the country of Dallas and Dr. N. W. Andrews, head of the Dallas Health Department, addressed the convention. Dr. Philip Hillkowitz, President of the Society, presided, assisted by Dr. C. D. Spivak, Executive Secretary. The following trustees were elected at the concluding session on Monday: D. H. Krohn, S. G. Rosenthal, I. Rude, H. J. Schwartz, Meyer Neusteter, Ben Grimes, Hyman Robinson, all of Denver and Harry Sigel, Dallas.
