The Minister of Education of North Rhine-Westphalia this week-end ordered the withdrawal from all schools of a German textbook for children from six to 10 years of age because of two anti-Semitic stories which the volume contains.
The demand for the withdrawal of the textbooks was made by the local Christian-Jewish Society. In ordering the ban, the Ministor of Education emphasized that the stories to which the Society objected were not included in the original text of the volume which was approved by the Ministry of Education. These stories were inserted later.
