Appreciation to the Zionist Organization of Canada for its gift of $300,000 to the Jewish National Fund was expressed by the Fifteenth Zionist Congress in a cablegram received by the Canadian Zionist Organization today.
The cablegram, which was signed by Nahum Sokolow and Dr. Leon Motzkin read:
“The Fifteenth Zionist Congress at Basle after hearing the report of M. M. Ussishkin on his Canadian tour and its result, decided amidst great enthusiasm to send the Zionist Organization of Canada and its president A. J. Freiman, an expression of its deep appreciation and joy. The Congress voices its confidence that Canada’s wonderful example in regard to the purchase of land in Palestine will be followed by other federations to enable the Jewish National Fund to acquire in the near future sufficient land to settle large Jewish masses.”
An annual holiday known as Vacation Day was observed by Temple Sisterhoods throughout the country. The custom was inaugurated by the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods several years ago. During the summer each Sisterhood arranges an outing at which its members and others Interested in religious welfare are present. The programs Include addresses on Jewish topies.
