The American Historical Association announced that Clark M. Clifford, special advisor to President Truman during the time U.S. recognition of Israel was at stake, will break a 20-year silence on that issue. The Association said Clifford, whose views during that period have been reported in detail in hitherto unpublished memoranda issued recently by the State Department in its record of 1948 which was recently revealed here, will address the Association’s annual meeting Dec. 28 in the Shoreham Hotel.
