The American Israel Public Affairs Committee officially invited Israeli Prime Minister-elect Ehud Barak to speak to its annual policy conference that begins this weekend. Outgoing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was officially uninvited after he resigned as the leader of the Likud Party following his stinging defeat at the ballot box, according to exit polls. The policy conference became a source of tensions between Barak and the pro-Israel lobby when AIPAC, citing the tradition of only having the prime minister speak to the group, refused to invited the Labor Party leader.
