The Arab League held a conference on Israeli Arabs, whom they call “the 1948 Palestinians.” Four Israeli Arab lawmakers attended the conference, which opened Monday in Cairo. Arab League officials described the conference as an effort to “establish strategic links” to Palestinian Arabs who became naturalized Israelis after the Jewish state was founded in 1948.
