The area around one of the oldest synagogues in the Rio de Janeiro region may be turned into an “urban kibbutz” for the poor. The Dutch-style synagogue, built in 1928, is covered with zodiac signs and granite inscriptions honoring Holocaust victims and fighters in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
