The authorities today took steps to tighten border control and threatened immediate expulsion of all immigrants who enter illegally. The Ministry of Justice ordered an increase in the frontier guards, pointing out the move was motivated by action of the Netherlands, France and Switzerland in considerably restricting permits for immigrants, forcing many aliens who have had to leave their countries for political reasons illegally to enter Belgium.
