The bipartisan leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives International Relations Committee urged the United Nations to reschedule this year’s opening of the U.N. General Assembly, currently scheduled for Yom Kippur on Sept. 20. In a letter to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, U.S. Reps. Benjamin Gilman (R-N.Y.) and Sam Gejdensen (D-Conn.) called the scheduling “insensitive and inappropriate.”
