The body of an Israeli soldier who was killed in southern Lebanon over the weekend was flown to Russia for burial following a military ceremony in Israel. Meanwhile, Israel Defense Force officials rejected accusations that they had failed to look into Sgt. Nikolai Rappaport’s dire living conditions, which were discovered when President Ezer Weizman made a condolence call at the dilapidated shack in Tel Aviv where the immigrant soldier lived with his father and sister.
