The body of the Christian servant girl employed by the Jewish merchant, Schochar, of Mernel. was exhumed and an autopsy performed because of the ritual murder charges brought against her Jewish employer.
The medical examination established that death was not due to any act of violence. The district attorney who was in charge of the prosecution against the Jewish family issued a statement to the press declaring that the charge had no foundation. The agitation has subsided.
At the same time the district attorney made public the opinion of Prof Loehr, an evangelical theologian of Koenigsberg, who declared that “Jewish ritual murder never existed.”
