The Canadian Government will announce a new policy on refugees following tomorrow’s Cabinet meeting, it was learned today after Prime Minister MacKenzie King had returned from Washington where he discussed the refugee situation with President Roosevelt. There have been unconfirmed reports that Canada may admit 5,000 German refugees.
The Cabinet meeting was awaited as nation-wide indignation against Nazi oppression of Jews mounted. Protestants, Catholics and Jews joined last night and yesterday in protest meetings, urging that the Dominion Government take steps to aid refugees.
