The CBS-TV weekly news program, “Sixty Minutes,” will repeat on Aug. 27 from 7-8 p.m. its segment about a Jewish woman who survived the Holocaust by becoming a member of the Auschwitz orchestra. Fania Fenelon, now 60 years old and living in France, is the author of “The Musicians of Auschwitz,” which chronicles her deportation to the death camp in 1943 and how she escaped the gas chambers by playing violin in the camp orchestra. The opera, Madama Buttertly, she says on the program, was a favorite of the camp guards when they returned “after a long day of killing.”
