The CIA is emerging as a key player in U.S. efforts to halt Israeli-Palestinian violence. Earlier this year, Bush administration officials said the United States planned to cut back the CIA’s role. Instead, the CIA has emerged as a “facilitator” in Israeli-Palestinian security talks, a CIA official told the Israeli daily Ha’aretz.
