The co-founder of the only national professional organization for Jewish nurses was elected the national president of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America. Nancy Falchuk of Newton Centre, Mass., was chosen this week at the organization’s annual national convention in New York City. A nurse by training, she helped found the Hadassah National Center for Nurses’ Council. “When I first started out in nursing, I thought I was the only Jewish nurse,†she said. “Now I have more than 3,000 Jewish nurses as colleagues in the Nurses’ Councils.†Falchuk has been involved in Hadassah for three decades in various posts, most recently as the national coordinator of development, in addition to serving on the executive committee of the national board. She succeeds June Walker, who served four one-year terms and was recently elected the chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
