The conflict with the Palestinians is a “cancer” that poses an existential threat to Israel, Israel’s army chief of staff said. In a wide-ranging interview with Ha’aretz, the Israel Defense Force’s new chief of staff, Moshe Ya’alon, said Iraq poses less of a threat to Israel than do the Palestinians. The other great danger is that a hostile state will acquire nuclear weapons, Ya’alon said.
