“The conversion law will cause a deep rift in the Jewish nation,” 80 North American Jewish federation leaders stated in a resolution during a mission to Israel. The delegation’s visit coincided with one by 75 American Orthodox rabbis, who are lobbying Knesset members to support the pending conversion bill, which would codify the Orthodox movement’s control over all conversions performed in the Jewish state.
