The cornerstone for a new yeshiva in the Old City, overlooking the Western Wall, was laid yesterday in the presence of religious notables. To be known as Yeshivat Hakotel, the new institution will house 250 students. Construction costs are estimated at $3.6 million. The seminary is sponsored by Bnei Akiva, youth movement of the National Religious Party.
Ground was broken in Tel Aviv for Shaar Haarayot Synagogue (Lions Gate) to be erected here in memory of the 600 paratroopers who have been killed in the line of duty since paratroop units were established.
Gen. Arie Sharon and Gen. Motta Gur, who commanded the paratroop units in the Six-Day War, were present at the dedication services along with Minister Without Portfolio Menahem Beigin and families and friends of the war dead.
