The DAIA has called on Soviet President Nikolai Podgorny to review the death sentence imposed by a Moscow court last month on Mikhail Leviev on grounds that the same sentence was not pronounced on Leviev’s non-Jewish co-defendants accused of the same alleged economic crimes. A plea to intervene on Leviev’s behalf was also cabled in the name of the Argentine Jewish community to United Nations Secretary General Kurt Waldheim.
