The disappearance of three peasant boys caused great anxiety to the Jewish population in Carpatho-Russian villages.

The boys, Andreas Beres, Ivan Ivanik and Michael Voni, all between 14 and 16 years old, have been missing since April 15. The old libelous rumors were again set on foot that the Jews kidnapped the boys for ritual purposes.
