The municipal authorities of Grodzisk, in the Province of Posen, (where serious anti-Jewish excesses occurred in November, when over 160 Jewish traders and pedlars attending the market-day there were attacked by hooligans) have ordered the Jewish Community to carry out a thorough renovation of the local synagogue and Jewish Community building by January 15th., otherwise the building will be demolished by the Municipality and the expenses charged to the Jewish Community.

The Jewish National Council has made urgent representations to the Minister of Education and Public Worship, pointing out in its petition asking him to veto the decree of the Municipality that the present Jewish population of Grodzisk consists of only three families, who cannot possibly find the funds to cover the cost of the renovation.
