The earliest Jewish evaluation of the election results emphasizes the fact that the Nazis have failed to secure the two-thirds majority in the Reichstag, which is needed for any change in the Constitution. It is pointed out that the Nazis together with the Nationalists command some 52% of the Reichstag, and that it would not be possible for them without support from other parties to introduce any measure aiming at the abolition of Jewish emancipation, which would call for an amendment in the Constitution.
