The first Mores Mendelssohn Prize has been awarded to Dr. Barbara Just-Dahlmann in recognition of “The furtherance of tolerance toward unorthodox ideas and between people of all nations races and religions.” The DM 20,000 prize was endowed last year by the Berlin Senate to mark the birthday of the Jewish Enlightenment philosopher (1729-1786). Just-Dahlmann is the director of the local court in Schwetzingen, near Heidelberg, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Preservation of Human Rights organization.
