The Geneva-based International Red Cross has asked the Russian Red Cross to work for the release from a Soviet prison of Jewish engineer Sylva Zalmanson Kuznetsov, who is serving a 10-year sentence in an alleged skyjacking plot. This was reported by the IRC in a telegram received here Sunday by Mordechai Bar-On, president of Israel’s Youth Organizations Council, which appealed to the IRC last week. (In New York, 75 members of the Jewish Defense League were arrested Sunday for sitting down half a block from the Soviet Mission after “only” 250 JDLers turned out for a demonstration at the Mission on behalf of Mrs. Kuznetsoy. The JDL chairman, Rabbi Meir Kahane, was incensed at the turnout in view of the 18,000 demonstrators in Central Park Saturday demanding a prompt end to American involvement in Vietnam.)
