The government Monday beat off the first opposition attack on its Hebron decision when the Knesset defeated a no-confidence motion by the Shai faction by a vote of 56-44 with three abstentions. A similar motion, submitted by Mapam, may not come to the floor before the Passover holiday which begins next week. Replying for the government, Minister-Without-Portfolio Moshe Nissim rejected the argument that the government should have considered world opinion before the Cabinet acted on Hebron.
