The greatest increase of American tourism to Israel since the establishment of the State in 1948 took place last year, it was announced here Tuesday by Moshe Shoshani, Israel’s commissioner for tourism for North America. He said that “405,000 Americans visited Israel in 1984 which represents a staggering 15 percent increase over 1983 when 354,000 Americans travelled there. “A peak figure of 1.3 million visitors worldwide was also a record achievement.
