The inability of the Inter-parliamentary Union to intervene in behalf of the Jews of Roumania was reiterated in the reply of the Union’s secretary general to a member of the Club of Jewish Deputies here.
Replying to an appeal by Deputy Kirschbraun, the secretary general states that the Union regrets it finds it impossible to do anything which might create misunderstandings between different governments. The Union is unaware of the fact of Rabbi Zirelson’s resignation from the Roumanian Senate. It will, however, raise the question of the mistreatment of the Jews in Roumania at its meeting which will take place in February. If the facts will be found to be true, the attention of the Roumanian parliamentary group will be drawn to the situation, the communication states.
