The inclusion of a Christian symbol on the official seal of a Missouri town is unconstitutional, a federal court recently ruled. The town of Republic, Mo., has until Aug. 9 to remove the “Ichthus,” a fish symbol representing Jesus, from its seal, according to the court ruling. Charging that the symbol violated the separation of church and state guaranteed by the First Amendment, the American Civil Liberties Union successfully sued the municipality on behalf of a non-Christian resident of the town.
