The incoming speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives said “it is imperative for the Jewish people” to support the Middle East peace process “because the alternatives are too unimaginable.” In his most extensive remarks to date on the Middle East, Rep. Bob Livingston (R-La.) told the National Jewish Coalition, a Republican group, that the United States should pursue a “fair and honorable peace for both sides.”
