The Indiana State Association of B’nai B’rith Lodges held its eighth annual convention at Muncie. Saul Munter of Indianapolis was elected president to succeed Bernard Greenberger of South Bend. The other officers are: Andrew Fried of Lafayette, 1st vice-president; Sam Fleck of Marion, 2nd vice-president; Harry Levin of Terre Haute, secretary-treasurer. Marion was chosen as the meeting place for the 1929 convention.
Will F. Freund, president of the Municie Lodge, welcomed the delegates, and Rabbi Melbourn Harris delivered the invocation. Tribute was paid to the late Adolph Biccard of Indianapolis. Professor Sechar, head of the Hillel Foundation at the University of Illinois, was the principal speaker.
The Indiana-Kentucky Interstate Council of Jewish Women held their convention in Indianapolis, Ind. A large number of delegates attended.
A few changes have taken place in the pulpits in Indiana. Rabbi I. Siegel, of South Bend, has taken over a position in Wakegan, Ill. Rabbi Philip Greenstein, of New York, has replaced him as rabbi of the Sons of Israel Synagogue. The building of a new edifice is being planned.
The long dormant pulpit of the B’nai Jacob Congregation of Fort Wayne has been occupied by Rabbi Herman Price. Since his coming, a Hebrew school, a young folks’ league, a junior league, a choir, an adult Hebrew class, and a Teacher’s Institute have been organized with the construction of a new synagogue already in sight.
The newly-organized “Conference of Women’s Clubs” will hold its first meeting November 15 at Kirshbaum Center. Rabbi H. Heller of Cincinnati will be the principal speaker. Already 16 organizations have joined.
