The International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation launched a petition calling on the United Nations to solve the mystery of the Holocaust rescuer’s disappearance. Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat, was last seen Jan. 17, 1945, when Soviet military officers escorted him to Red Army headquarters, alleging he was a U.S. spy. To mark the 60th anniversary of his disappearance, the foundation is hoping to collect 100,000 signatures on a worldwide petition. Wallenberg saved the lives of some 100,000 Jews when he worked as a diplomat in Budapest during World War II.
