The Israel-allied South Lebanon Army began its withdrawal Tuesday from a Christian enclave in the northern portion of Israel’s security zone. The withdrawal from the Jezzine enclave took place under heavy fire from Hezbollah gunmen, and two SLA soldiers were killed by roadside bombs planted by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, outgoing Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Arens said the withdrawal is not a prelude to an Israeli pullout from the security zone.
