The Israel bond drive is underwritten by the “deep devotion” of the Israel people to their country, Mayor David Lawrence of Pittsburgh told a conference of 150 leaders of 68 Jewish communities in the Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia region, in a report on his recent visit to Israel.
Mayor Lawrence said that what impressed him most in Israel, after the “deep dyed-in-the-wool devotion” of the Israel people for their country, was the high calibre of government and industry personnel. At the tri-state conference, “Guardians” and “Sponsors” of Israel were enrolled.
