The Israeli army decided to increase its presence in Hebron. The decision followed a firefight with Palestinian gunmen Monday in which one soldier was killed. Staff Sgt. Tomer Ron, 20, was killed when reinforcements were sent in to back up an army foot patrol that came under fire on the road between Kiryat Arba and the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron.
