The Israeli government said Wednesday it would not recognize non-Orthodox conversions performed in Israel, for purposes of the Law of Return. The state will formally present its opinion to the High Court of Justice, which is reviewing a case on the legitimacy of conversions performed inside Israel by the Reform and Conservative movements.
