The Jewish Community Council of Metropolitan Detroit delivered to French Consul General Yves Coffin a letter protesting the relase of Abu Daoud. “To appease the oil cartel and the international terrorists.” the letter said, the French government has “displayed weakness and lost the right to command the respect of world opinion.” John Shepherd, president of the JCC. said some 50 letters from “outraged Jewish residents” of Detroit were also sent to the French Embassy in Washington.
