The Jewish community in the Polish city of Gdansk regained possession of the site of a synagogue that was destroyed by the Nazis. The leader of the 200- member community said a miniature of the Great Synagogue, which was built in the 1880s, would be erected on the site. The property was returned as part of a 1997 accord under which the Polish government agreed to return Jewish communal properties.
