The judges in the Jewish National Fund Song Contest to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the fund were announced.
Dr. Elias Lieberman, well-known poet and principal of the Thomas Jefferson High School of New York; Joseph Eron, principal of the Eron Preparatory School, and Maurice Samuel, author of “You Gentiles” and “I, the Jew”, will act as judges of the English songs. David Pinaki, the noted playwright; Abraham Liessin, editor of the Yiddish monthly “Zukunft”, and Dr. Ben Zwi Baratoff, noted artist, will be the judges of the Yiddish songs.
Two prizes of $100 each will be awarded in this contest for the words of original Yiddish and English songs. The contest is open to all, with the exception of members of the staffs of the Jewish National Fund and organizations affiliated with it. Manuscripts must be mailed to Jewish National Fund Song Contest, 114 Fifth Avenue. New York, before April 11. The rules governing the contest may be obtained from the same source. It is expected that the announcement of the winning songs will be made on or before April 20.
